These adorable dogs are looking for love!
If you have been following along, reading about our big move to Costa Rica, then you know how relieved we were when we found a home for our two dogs. (If you don’t know the backstory, you can read all about it here.) Our sweet neighbor offered to keep them for the year that we are gone, and we were elated! Sadly, something has come up for her that will require all of her attention for an undetermined amount of time. It’s a personal matter, unrelated to the dogs.
We wish we could just fly home and get them! But the part of Costa Rica where we live is not at all small, city-dog friendly. In fact, there are scorpions, crocodiles, poisonous toads all over and more poisonous snakes than any other country. But the worst problem is a tick, very common in the area, that infects its prey with a virus that will make a horse ill. For a small dog, like either of ours, it would be deadly.
We hate to move them to a new home again, but we have no other option. We are hoping you might be able to help.
Our dogs are so important to us and this choice was very hard to make. But we are looking for someone who would be willing to adopt them both, or keep them for the year that we are gone. We are open to either option. But we really want them to stay together.
Both are healthy, current on vet appointments, spayed/neutered and are total sweethearts! We have learned a few other details about them since their stay with our neighbor. #1 – they are very good with other dogs and even though the transition takes a day or so, everyone settles down quite nicely and gets along well. #2 – they need a home where they aren’t left alone for the entire day. Many dogs can handle it. We know that. In fact, we had one who was left for 8+ hours Mon.-Fri. But Ladybug and Leo were spoiled by “parents” who officed from home, and we think 6+ hours is just too much to ask of their little bladders.
Ladybug is 8-ish (she was a rescue and her exact age wasn’t known). She is a Shih Tzu, Lhasa Apso mix and is about as sweet, calm and quiet a dog you would ever meet. She loves people, kids and doesn’t mind other dogs. She sleeps roughly 18 hours a day. Not super energetic.
Leo is two and is a Pekingese. His mom was rescued from a breeder and we’ve had him since he was a puppy. He’s more energetic than Ladybug. He may or may not do well with kids – we just don’t know. He enjoys playing with other dogs. He is a bit nervous at first with new things, but warms up and then is full of love.
They are both very sweet and cuddly. They enjoy watching TV, curling up with a good book, or any other couch-related activity. They also enjoy walks and going on little adventures to sniff around and explore. All in all, these two keep each other company and love to be loved. If you think there’s room in your home and in your heart, we’d love to talk!
